discandooo ("CKS Online Essentials GmbH") is registered in Germany. When you place an order with us, you formally purchase products in Germany (no different than if you would visit a German supermarket personally). Following the purchase of the goods, you can either come pick them up at our warehouse in Berlin, or organise transport of your goods to your home address - learn more on our shipping page.
Are you a real company? How can I trust you?
No, we will not run away with your money :). Trust is something you build over time, and we have been working hard to make our customers happy ever since launching the platform in January 2017. We suggest you check some of our reviews on Facebook, otherwise you can always reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Mo-Fr at +49 211 9936 4980 for any questions.
How can you offer these prices? Where do your products come from?
The European Union is a "single market", with goods allowed to freely move without import/export taxes between member states. In theory, this should lead to fair pricing across the EU, however we found that this is not the case at all. For example, why does a customer in Sweden pay 35% more for a Nivea Shampoo than a customer in Germany or Poland? Learn more about our prices.
Our goal is to give everyone equal access to the best prices across Europe. We do this by comparing prices for a range of ~2000 common consumer goods across all member states, and sourcing brands and popular goods where they are cheapest. This allows us to offer substancial discounts to you as a consumer.
Is this legal? What about taxes?
“There are no limits on what private persons can buy and take with them when they travel between EU countries, as long as the products purchased are for personal use and not for resale, with exception of new means of transport. Taxes (VAT and excise) will be included in the price of the products in the Member State of purchase and no further payment of taxes can be due in any other Member State.” (source)
For alcoholic beverages, limits on purchases for personal use is defined as:
- spirit drinks 10 litres
- intermediate products 20 litres
- wines (including a maximum of 60 litres of sparkling wines) 90 litres
- beers 110 litres
Please note that we will only pick & pack orders up to the above limits!
All prices on discandooo.com contain German VAT + excise duties (because we are a German registered trading company). As long as the goods are for private use/consumption and transported yourself (either personally, or by organising your own/independent transport), you are free to move these goods to any location within the European Union, including your home address, without paying any additional taxes (principle of free movement of goods, read more here). It just like when you visit Germany (or any other EU member state) during your holidays, go to a local supermarket or discounter for a shopping trip and then take all goods back home.
This is our reading and understanding of EU law (and the reality across all European borders every day), however please make sure to read and comply with specific duties your country may impose on online purchases (links for Denmark, Sweden, Finland).
